Giesting Financial has developed a Business Continuity Plan on how we will respond to events that could significantly disrupt our business. Since the timing and impact of disasters and disruptions is unpredictable, we will have to be flexible in responding to actual events as they occur. With that in mind, we are providing you with this information.

In the event of a disruption affecting our Primary Office telephone service, we will also post alternate telephone contact numbers on our website. If you cannot access us through any of those means, you should contact our Broker-Dealer, Private Client Services. Their contact information is:

Our Business Continuity Plan
We plan to quickly recover and resume business operations after a significant business disruption and respond by safeguarding our employees and property, making a financial and operational assessment, protecting the firm’s books and records, and allowing our customers to transact business. In short, our Business Continuity Plan is designed to permit our firm to resume operations as quickly as possible, given the scope and severity of the significant business disruption.
Our Business Continuity Plan addresses: data back up and recovery (all of our data is backed up on a daily basis and stored off-site); all mission critical systems; financial and operational assessments; alternative communications with customers, employees, and regulators; alternate physical location of employees; critical supplier, contractor, bank and counter-party impact; regulatory reporting; and assuring our customers prompt access to their funds and securities if we are unable to process business.
Our Broker-Dealer (listed above) backs up our important records in geographically separate areas. While every emergency situation poses unique problems based on external factors, such as time of day and the severity of the disruption, we have been advised by our Broker-Dealer that their objective is to restore their mission-critical systems within four hours and resume operations the same day. Your orders and requests for funds and securities could be delayed during this period.
Significant business disruptions can vary in their scope; affecting only our Primary Office, the city where we are located, a single office of our firm, or the whole region. Within each of these areas, the severity of the disruption can also vary from minimal to severe. In a disruption only to our Primary Office, we will transfer our operations to a local site when needed and expect to recover and resume business within three hours. In a disruption affecting our business district, city, or region, we will transfer operations to sites outside of the affected area, and recover and resume business as quickly as possible. In either situation, we plan to continue conducting business, transfer operations to our Broker-Dealer if necessary, and notify you via email or our website. If a business disruption is so severe that it prevents us from conducting business, we will assure your prompt access to your funds and securities via our Broker-Dealer.
Please note that our Business Continuity Plan assumes that at our company and Broker-Dealer will have a minimum amount of personnel with which to operate, that at least one of our offices will be functional, and that our critical business vendors (or an equivalent replacement) will be available and functioning. However robust our Business Continuity Plan may be, we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of our Plan for those disasters which we are unable to anticipate, are global in nature, or which recovery and responsiveness is dependent upon third parties. We will have no control over the ability of third parties to respond appropriately to the challenges they may face at the time of a disruptive event.
Making sure that any type of disruption does not adversely impact our clients is extremely important to us.
